(see photo) Quilt has attached paper label. Buyer will also receive a general letter 1882 addressed to Angeline Kingley, Rome, N.Y.
from her Niece. Quilt also has initials squares of family members, one being her husband.

FABRIC ART:
So much artistic talent here!
So many varieties, colors of stitching!
So many imaginative squares!
So many quality colorful fabrics!
So many embellishments to stitches!

CONDITION:
Excellent! No stains, fading or discolor, no odors. I note 4 squares with fraying silk fabric.
The over-all quilt fabrics appear to be silk, satin, velvet, tapestry-type, etc.

BACKING
of rust/brown cotton (I think a blend?) Appears to have the common andodyne dye problem creating thin spots and holes.
Backing is very clean. Damage was not caused by mistreatment nor wear. Quilt has always been stored carefully.

SQUARE SCENES:
Blue bell flowers, fans, thistle flowers, sailboat, balloon, Mother in Chair with Girl at her feet, Plush Yellow chicken with bead eye, Lily flower,
Horse & jockey in blue silks, Some oil painted squares, etc. Some squares are tufted, velvet-like. Not sure what this form is called.
I note Rose flowers with the Rose actually having separated satin petals.

BORDER:
Over-all is totally a work of fluffy roses & leaves.
Border is incrediblly beautiful, perfect condition. Binding is twisted gold brocade, perfect condition.

HOW LONG?
....Must it have taken Angeline to create this work of fabric art?
well, Rome, New York is in New York State's snow belt area.
I'm thinking she worked this quilt for several long upstate N.Y. winters.
